1. Optimise your website speed
Your website speed is a big factor impacting your ranking in Google, so it pays to make sure all your site content loads as quickly as possible.

2. Use descriptive URLs
If you visit any major business website, you’ll notice that every page URL is descriptive – that is, they contain keywords that accurately describe the content on the page. The more descriptive your URLs are, the easier it is for Google to ‘understand’ what’s on the page and return it in search results.
This is especially important for landing pages (such as product pages) and blogs, where the content on the page is likely to be quite specific.
Here’s an example of a good vs bad URL:

You can see that the first URL is much more descriptive and provides context about what’s on the page.
3. Add keywords your metadata
Like URLs, metadata provides information to search engines about what’s on the pages of your website. Adding relevant keywords to your metadata makes it more likely your website pages will appear when people search for related terms online.
You can update your website’s metadata by logging into your website’s content management system. There are two important types of metadata to focus on:
- Title tags – include your business name and as many relevant keywords as possible – but make sure it’s easy to understand by humans as well. Keep the length under 60 characters.
